Canadian Country music star Tim Hicks is a force to be reckoned with

Winner Of The 2014 CCMA RISING STAR Award
New Album 5:01 Available Everywhere Now
Kicks Off The RISER Tour With U.S. Country Artist Dierks Bentley This Weekend

Toronto, ON (October 15, 2014) – JUNO Award nominated, country music star Tim Hicks has enjoyed an undeniably huge year and shows no signs of slowing down. Hot on the heels of receiving his first Canadian Country Music Association Award for Rising Star, Hicks joined The Tragically Hip last Wednesday (10/18), at Yonge-Dundas Square to play for more than 25,000 fans in downtown Toronto during an outdoor concert celebrating the start of the NHL 2014-15 season.

This weekend, Hicks joins U.S. Country artist Dierks Bentley to kick off the Canadian leg of the RISER Tour beginning in Edmonton, AB (10/18), and will bring the thunder to major markets across Canada. Additionally, it was announced that Hicks will headline the 2014 Grey Cup Roar on the Shore concert series on November 28th in Vancouver, BC.

It hasn’t always been high profile concerts and events for this St. Catharines, ON native. Hicks started his music career humbly, playing to partygoers and small crowds alike, hitting the pavement and never saying “no” to a gig. After 10,000 hours performing in bars and on small stages, fast forward to 2013, 250,000 downloads later, multiple sold-out tour dates across the country and Hicks became the #1 highest selling digital Canadian Country Artist of the Year for his debut album Throw Down, as well as the Most Played Debut Artist overall at Country radio.
Since then, Hicks’ career has taken on a life of its own, with four Top 10 singles, nearly 3 million YouTube hits, two JUNO Award nominations and his third gold-certified single (with the viral hit “Stronger Beer”). Hicks is a multiple nominee, performer, and winner at the CCMAs and this is only the beginning. After performing at numerous large-scale festivals, including the 2014 Boots & Hearts Music Festival, where Hicks played alongside Lee Brice and Luke Bryan to a crowd of 35,000+, he continues to gain momentum.

Hicks sophomore album 5:01 (Open Road Recordings/Universal Music Canada) debuted at #1 on the SoundScan Country Album sales chart, making this Hicks’ first #1 country album and cementing his status as the biggest country music act we’ve seen this decade.

You Gotta See This! New video from The Road Hammers “I’ve Been Everywhere!”

September 24th, 2014

Strap yourself in and hang on The Road Hammers are back with Wheels (Open Road Recordings), a record that will resonate deeply with anyone who ever up and shook the dust off their boots and hit the road just for the hell of it. Wheels is a tight set of raw and uncompromising tunes that telegraphs the unique sense of freedom found by getting behind the wheel of something, anything, and getting the hell out of Dodge. Nowhere is that more evident than on Wheels second single ‘Mud,’ a track dedicated to people who love getting dirty at high speed on motorbikes, trucks, hot rods or whatever they can fire up and head out on.

As you may have seen on the CCMA Awards — Jason, Clayton and Chris have combined forces once again to release a ‘hammerized’ version of Hank Snow’s classic tune “I’ve Been Everywhere”. If you think The Hammers got a little crazy in the studio for this one… just you wait! Happy travels y’all!

Add to this, his label, Open Road Recordings, won Record Label of The Year for the 6th straight year and artists’ Tim Hicks won Rising Artist of the Year and Dean Brody Album of the Year for Crop Circles. EDMONTON, AB – It was an exciting night for Country music in Canada! Nova Scotia-based Dean Brody was given Album of the Year for Crop Circles, the same album that snagged a Juno back in March for country album of the year. He accepted the CCMA wearing his father’s dusty cowboy hat.

Brody has had a banner 2014, with his sold-out Crop Circles and Tractor Beams arena tour, scoring his 14th top 10 single with “Another Man’s Gold” and becoming the first male Canadian to receive two #1 country singles. This is the third time Brody has won Album of the Year, following wins in 2011 and 2012 for Trail in Life and Dirt, respectively.

Brody said being back in Edmonton, where he once attended college and worked part-time at an area Walmart, reminded him of how differently his life could have turned out if he had never taken a chance and sent some of his first songs off to record labels.

The Rising Star award went to Tim Hicks, a 35-year-old country rocker from St. Catharines, Ont., who sported a ball cap instead of a Stetson. He has amassed four Top 10 singles, two Juno nominations, three GOLD certified singles and has an upcoming Fall tour with country star Dierks Bentley – but Hicks said his success has been a long time coming.

He remembered one job he took before he made it big, singing on a moving double-decker bus. He turned green and his audience told him it was OK for him to sit down and stop playing. “It took me 20 years to be a rising star but I don’t regret any of those gigs,” he said.

“I can’t wait to go back home and share this with my friends and family and just continue this wild ride.”
