February 5, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – With his last album earning recognition from both The JUNO Awards and the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards for Country Album of the Year in 2014, nine-time CCMA Award winner and three-time JUNO Award nominee Dean Brody has announced the release date for his 5th studio album. Available for pre-order from Open Road Recordings on March 24, Brody’s upcoming album will be delivered to fans across North America on April 21, 2015.

As the album’s first single, “Upside Down,” takes over the Canadian airwaves on February 9, fans will instantly know that the wait has been worth it. Reminiscent of earlier favourites “Roll That Barrel Out” and “Old Joe Riley,” Brody knew instantly that “Upside Down” was the best introduction to the new material. “Making a new record is always about pushing boundaries and having fun,” said Brody. “This song is all about having a good time which is exactly what we did when making this one.”

To challenge himself in new ways, Brody composed three of the album’s ten tracks on instruments he had never played before. The result was a record, whose title will be announced first to fans via social media later this spring, that is a perfect combination of both the East and West Coast. Having grown up in the mountains and now living on the ocean, Brody proudly admits that this costal inspiration runs through all of his work. Album five definitely proves this as it delivers, without question, the carefree nature of summers on the ocean and the feeling of freedom found in roaming through the Rockies.

A self-proclaimed storyteller, Brody lives for fan feedback. Thankfully, this full-length provides many opportunities for that. From what is sure to be a fan favourite, “Sweet Lola” (tagged by Brody himself as a sequel to the chart-topping “Bounty”) to the upbeat drive of “Bring Down The House” and the heartfelt spirit of “Footprints Of A Giant” – an emotional song written in the hours after the parliament events in Ottawa last October – it’s clear that what has been delivered is an album that will satiate.

With the video for “Upside Down” set to premiere in mid-February, it won’t be long before Canada gets to spend more time with the award-winning Dean Brody as a national tour will be announced later this spring. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned via Facebook and Twitter for album and tour announcements.

December 18th, 2014

December 18th, 2014 (Toronto, ON) – Bands on the Run goes out with a BANG! Wrapping their 26-date tour at the renowned Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver B.C., The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, and Blackjack Billy left it all on the stage on Monday night. Playing to thousands of fans night after night the tour saw The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, Blackjack Billy, hammer out 6,000 km, while travelling from coast to coast during their first ever cross-Canada tour together.

A rare tour opportunity for fans, as well as all three bands, Jason McCoy of The Road Hammers said “the fans on the BOTR tour have re-defined the term ‘party’, they were completely off the hook. Thank you Canada, our home and native land!”

Coming out of hiatus with the release of their third studio album Wheels in June of this year, The Road Hammers saw huge success with the first single “Get On Down The Road”, as well as “I’ve Been Everywhere” and the GOLD certified track “Mud”. Doc Walker, one of Canada’s most legendary country music bands, along with label mates Blackjack Billy both released new albums this past fall. Doc Walker’s eighth studio album, The 8th features the Top 10 hit “Put It Into Drive”, the fan-favourite “Shake It Like it’s Saturday Night”, and the latest hit “That’s How I Like It”.

Touring with both bands for the first time, Chris Thorsteinson of Doc Walker weighed in and said, “the BOTR tour was truly an amazing experience for me as a musician and a fan of music. The crew was amazing and if it were not for the support of country radio it never would have happened. Most of all, I want to thank the fans for their support, I hope you know how much each and everyone of us appreciate you coming out to see us.”

Hailing from three small-towns across the USA with one token Canadian band member, Blackjack Billy put forth their debut album, Rebel Child, to the masses and couldn’t have been happier with the success that they received. Not only did “Booze Cruise” reach well-over 350,000 downloads, it was also certified PLATINUM and was selected as a Sirius XM The Highway favourite. Their tracks “Get Some”, “Got A Feeling”, and “Sugar Cane” also received a great amount of attention from country music lovers. Completing their first cross-Canada tour Jeff Coplan would like to say, “thank you Canada for welcoming us into your party and making us feel at home”.

Creating even more buzz around the tour, Blackjack Billy released a brand new track “RUN”, featuring The Road Hammers, and Doc Walker just prior to the tour kick off, amping up the excitement. Giving fans an exclusive backstage look, the video also captures the electric energy that each brand brought to the table. Premiering on CMT Canada earlier this month the “RUN” music video features the bands rocking out at their second stop of the tour in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Although the Bands on the Run tour has come to an end, be sure to visit the band’s websites listed below to find out when one of them may be rolling through your town in the new year!

Canadian Country Music Star Proves He’s A Force To Be Reckoned With

“She Don’t Drink Whiskey Anymore” Is Hicks’ Sixth Consecutive Top 10 Hit

“Country album of the year.” – Examiner

“Tim Hicks leads Can-country charge.” – Times Colonist/Post Media

“5:01 is a critical and commercial breakthrough.” – Times Colonist/Post Media

“Irresistibly likeable…” – Edmonton Journal

Toronto, ON (December 16, 2014) – JUNO Award nominated, country music star Tim Hicks has enjoyed an undeniably busy and hugely successful year. The St. Catharines, ON, native received his first Canadian Country Music Association Award for Rising Star in September, soared into the Top 10 at radio with his sixth consecutive hit, played for more than 25,000 fans at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto, headlined the CFL 102nd Grey Cup Festival in Vancouver, and joined U.S. country star Dierks Bentley for all of his Canadian dates on the critically acclaimed Riser Tour.

2014 quickly became the year of Tim Hicks when his sophomore album 5:01 (Open Road Recordings/Universal Music Canada) debuted at #1 on the SoundScan Country Album sales chart, and was pronounced a “critical and commercial breakthrough,” by fans and media alike. The debut was Hicks’ second #1 country album and the first to see featured air play on SiriusXM’s coveted U.S. program The Highway – cementing his status as the biggest country music act we’ve seen this decade in Canada.

Since signing to Open Road Recordings in 2011, Hicks has captured the hearts and minds of Canadian country fans in a huge way. What sets him apart, beyond an ample sense of humour and his depth as a songwriter and performer, is his ability to tell those kinds of truths in a way that anyone, whether they’re a country fan or not, can relate to. Throw Down garnered Hicks critical acclaim, debuted at #1 its week of release and spawned four Top 10 hits, including three GOLD Certified singles; ‘Get By,’ ‘Hell Raisin’ Good Time’ and the YouTube smash viral sensation ‘Stronger Beer.’

In 2013, after 200,000-plus downloads, Hicks became the #1 highest selling digital Canadian Country Artist of the Year as well as the Most Played Debut Artist overall at Country radio. Since, Hicks has been honoured with multiple CCMA Award nominations, a Socan Award for “Get By”, a 2014 Canadian Radio Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and a Country Music Association of Ontario Award for Male Artist of the Year.

His songs resonate with so many people because, just like his fans, he works hard, plays hard and recognizes that chasing your dreams – whatever they may be – takes a toll that often requires taking some time to cut loose, and that, more than anything, is what Hicks is all about.

On December 31st, Hicks will wrap up 2014 with one final performance as the headliner for Ottawa, Ontario’s Sparks Street New Year’s Eve Celebration.

2014 – The Year of Dean Brody

December 12th, 2014

If you were in Canada at any point during 2014, maybe you live here permanently or maybe you were just visiting, chances are you would have heard the name Dean Brody during your travels. Known as one of Canada’s most recognized country music artists of the decade Dean Brody showed no signs of slowing down in 2014.

Releasing his third studio album Crop Circles at the end of 2013 no one could have predicted the level of success that this album would receive. Knocking it out of the park with the lead single, “Bounty”, the moment that Dean revealed the song an instant buzz was formed. Attracting millions of listeners across the country the song quickly shot up the charts to the Top 10 and reached #1 status on the Canadian country music charts as well as on CMT Canada.

Following the success from “Bounty”, Dean released his second single, “Crop Circles”, which was without a doubt THE country music single of 2014. The “Crop Circles” music video also earned the #1 spot on CMT Canada. His singles “Another Man’s Gold”, and “Mountain Man”, both released in 2014, saw huge success on country music radio and resonated well with fans. It should also be noted that all four singles off of the Crop Circles album reached Top 10 status.

As if these were all of his triumphs in 2014, at the start of the year Dean set out on his Crop Circles and Tractor Beams headlining cross-Canada tour, performing 18 shows and selling out multiple dates. His performance of “Mountain Man” at the 2014 CCMA Awards was another one of the most talked about moments of this year, as he channeled his inner ‘mountain man’ and repurposed some antlers as an instrument.

Being the only male Canadian country artist to have two #1 singles on the charts in Canada it is no surprise that Dean was awarded the two highest honours this year. At the 2014 JUNO Awards Dean took home the Country Recording of the Year Award, his country music family also awarded him the 2014 CCMA Award for Country Album of the Year.

If the information above does not convince you that 2014 was the year of Dean Brody, we don’t know what will. Although, who knows what’s in the cards for 2015. He could have back-to-back year of success, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Stay tuned Brody lovers!

High Valley’s side of the “County Line” proves to be a successful one!

December 2nd, 2014

When brother’s Brad and Curtis Rempel of High Valley released the second single off of their third studio album, “County Line”, there was no doubt that the song would take off, but no one could have predicted the level of success that the song has seen to date.

Hitting the airwaves on August 20th, 2014, “County Line” was the second most added song that week, with 17 adds across Canada. From there the track quickly gained momentum and it was selected as a Highway Find on Sirius XM’s The Highway, it also went on to reach Top 5 status on the prestigious country music radio show.

Receiving rave reviews straight out of the gate, “County Line” is currently holding the record for the only Canadian song to hold a spot in the Top 10 for a consecutive amount of time in 2014. In total, “County Line” has remained in the Top 10 for 9 weeks, surpassing Dallas Smith’s “Tippin Point”, and Tebey’s “Wake Me Up”, which were both in the Top 10 for 8 weeks.

The music video for the brand new single has also seen immense success. Climbing the charts since it’s release, the homegrown, back roads country video is currently sitting at #4 on the Chevrolet Top 20 Countdown.

Finding great success in 2014, if 2015 is anything like this past year High Valley is about to embark on the success train headed towards the greatness stop!

Dean Brody – Brothers – A Remembrance Day Song

November 11th, 2014

Today is one of my favourite days of the year – where true heroes are honoured and remembered. Thank you to our military families who have served and are serving. -Dean

Brothers by Dean Brody

The house was like a tomb.
I was hiding in my room.
As my brother made his way on down the hall.

I didn’t want to say goodbye.
And I was trying to deny there was a war,
And that he got the call.

I watched him from my window
Walking down the drive.
Then I ran down the stairway
Through the front door and I cried

You come back you hear?
And I let him see my tears
I said I’ll give you my rookie of DiMaggio.
I’ll do anything you want,
Clean your room, or wash your car.
I’ll do anything so long as you don’t go.
But he said, this is what brothers are for.

Well I have my heroes,
But the one I love the most
Taught me how to hunt and swing a bat.
And I wrote him every night,
I said I miss our pillow fights,
But lately I just wonder where you’re at.

Sometimes freedom makes it hard to live.
When it takes things from you that you don’t want to give.

I said you come back you hear?
I miss you being near.
Laugh and fish down in the maple grove

I’ll do anything you want.
There must be someone I can call,
And just maybe they would let you come back home.
But he wrote, this is what brothers are for.

I may never have to face the anger of those guns,
Or lie cold and wounded in my blood,
Or know the sacrifice and what it must of cost
For him to love me that much.

Well, it had been two years,
And I held back my tears
When I saw him in that wheel chair on the shore.

And as I ran and held him tight,
That’s when he looked me in the eye
And said I’m sorry that you have to push me home
