THE HAMMERS TEAM UP WITH TIM HICKS TO BRING A BIG SHOW TO A SMALL TOWN COURTESY OF CMT AND COORS BANQUET
SUMMER TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
June 2, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – It’s summer time; the beer is cold, the weather is warm and the necks are red. There is no better time for Canada’s favourite highway-loving, hillbilly-singing, country legends, The Road Hammers, to celebrate.
After a brief hiatus, The Road Hammers came back strong in 2014 with both a CCMA and JUNO Award nomination as well as the release of their fourth studio album Wheels. What fans truly don’t know is what happened during the interim that lead to their return – now, The Road Hammers are telling their side of the story through a nine-episode web series. Set to launch with CMT’s new website on June 8th, The Road Hammers Go Everywhere follows the trio through their country music return while capturing their first national tour (antics and all) since reuniting.
“We had so much fun filming this and being back on the road,” says Jason McCoy. “The Road Hammers Go Everywhere shows the heart of tour life, and being on the road is what we’re all about.”
Once on the road, these boys don’t quit. With the summer festival season quickly approaching, The Road Hammers will be making another trip across the nation to perform at some of the top festivals of the summer, including Ontario’s biggest country music festival of the year Boots and Hearts. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye out this summer for The Road Hammers’ selfie booth with Fueled by Rednecks – there’s sure to be plenty of merchandise, contests and more along the way!
In case the band misses your hometown this summer, CMT and Coors Banquet are giving you a chance to bring both The Road Hammers and label mate Tim Hicks to perform in your town in September. Submit a picture showing your small town pride to win an exclusive performance by two of Canada’s favourite country acts. May 25, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – Directly following an incredibly successful first quarter of 2015, Canada’s most recognized and celebrated country label Open Road Recordings is excited to announce its new partnership with RPMpromotion. This strategic alliance will see the Canadian radio promotions company working exclusively with Open Road Recordings. The alliance will be effective in the country genre as of June 1st, giving Open Road a truly national promotional footprint – the first of its kind for an independent label.
“At Open Road, we want to continue making ground breaking moves that allow us to reach beyond our goals,” said Ron Kitchener, President, Open Road Recordings. “Our alliance with the reputable RPM team provides coast to coast coverage via the company’s representatives located in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Halifax. This reach will allow us to achieve unprecedented results for both our established and developing roster of artists. We do appreciate the great attention John, Ryan at TTA provided us and look forward to working with them in other capacities in the future.”
RPM’s Dale Robertson will become the Director of Country and will lead the RPM team on strategy and initiatives on a national level. Previously with Universal Music Canada and Sony/BMG, Dale is well versed in the world of country music, having a hand in the development of artists including Sam Hunt, The Band Perry, Martina McBride and Taylor Swift. Dale recently relocated back to Winnipeg with his family and joined the RPM team creating a satellite office.
“I’m very excited to be joining the team that Mike Rice has built with RPM,” confirmed Robertson. “The new partnership with Open Road is an ideal fit for us and I’m happy to be part of the group to help propel their amazing roster within Canada and beyond.”
Founded in 2013, RPMpromotion is an independent Canadian radio promotions company based in Toronto. Helping both independent and signed musicians gain airplay on radio and video channels across the country, RPM’s team members each boast an average of 20 years of industry experience in the radio, recording and entertainment industries. They have worked alongside renowned country artists such as Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum, among others.
“We’re very excited to be working alongside of Open Road Recordings and their stable of world class artists,” says Mike Rice, Founder, RPMpromotion. “This partnership will help build new and existing fans and audiences, keeping ORR on top of the ranks in the country genre.”
“With Dale bringing the years of knowledge he has to the team as our new Director of Country Radio for RPM we believe we have the right team in place to make a difference,” adds Rice.
Open Road Recordings is the number one Canadian independent country recording company. It currently has leading market share for Mediabase #1 Indie Country label radio marketshare (consecutively since 2008); Mediabase #1 overall Canadian label radio marketshare (2014); and BDS #1 Indie Country radio marketshare (2011 – 2014). Its impressive roster of award-winning artists includes Dean Brody, Tim Hicks, High Valley and The Road Hammers.
Open Road wishes to thank The Talent Associates for their support through this transition period. They look forward to this new partnership and the opportunities it brings.
The brand new single from our friends Blackjack Billy #WhyGodMadeSummerTime. Pick it up on iTunes here: https://itun.es/us/wSGW6
With “Why God Made Summertime,” country music fans who had these guys pigeonholed as just another party band will be pleasantly surprised. “We’ve grown a lot since we released ‘The Booze Cruise’ two years ago,” says Blackledge. “We were fortunate to be given so many opportunities because of that song, and now I believe ‘Summertime’ shows a little insight into another side of our band.” Coplan agrees. “We definitely do enjoy a good booze cruise,” he laughs, “but summertime is so much more than that.” With its imagery of baseball games and tire swings, barbecue grills and lazy weekend afternoons, the track takes the listener through the vacation months with imagery that’s so evocative, you can already see the music video in your head. “There’s just no better time of year,” Blackledge says, then elaborates in the words of a born songwriter. “As soon as the mercury breaks 75, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be than on the back porch at Grandad’s house, watching the sun go down while we grill up some fresh-caught fish. Or getting up early and heading to the ballpark for a doubleheader, then wrapping up the night down by the lake with friends.” In other words, the song works – because these guys have lived it. DEAN BRODY AND PAUL BRANDT ANNOUNCE CO-HEADLINE NATIONAL TOUR
Canadian country music superstars join forces for fall #roadtriptour
CALGARY (April 20, 2015) – Multiple JUNO and CCMA Award winners Dean Brody and Paul Brandt are thrilled to announce the launch of their co-headline tour #roadtriptour. Bringing together the best in Canadian country music, this epic #roadtriptour will kick off in Victoria, British Columbia on September 24 and wrap up 21 cities later, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Artist pre-sale runs Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, April 23 at 10 p.m. local time or while supplies last. Tickets go on-sale to the general public Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. local time.
There is no question that these two are a force to be reckoned with. With a list of awards and accolades a country mile long, Brandt is recognized as the most awarded male Canadian country artist in history; Brody, the #1 most played Canadian country artist on radio. Brody also recently took home Country Album of the Year at both the 2014 CCMA and JUNO Awards. It is difficult to argue that there are any bigger names in Canadian country music today.
Brody and Brandt share commonalities beyond the scope of their success in country music, making the decision to partner on a national tour an easy one. Both were born in Western Canada and were raised with strong family values – a common thread that is clear not only in how they conduct themselves (including a deep investment and commitment to those in need) but a dominating force in their songs.
They both set off for Nashville early in their careers, which proved to be a defining time for each of them. As a result, both continue to hold the rich history found in Nashville close to their hearts by still actively writing and recording there.
“Dean and I are both deeply proud of our Canadian roots,” says Brandt. “Touring our country together this fall allows us to engage with both sets of fans and celebrate the heritage of country music that inspired our careers.”
“Canada has the greatest fans in the world,” adds Brody. “We are truly excited to bring our two styles together and create an unforgettable experience for them.”
In addition to the tour, both are busy with their latest music. Today, Brody released his fifth studio album Gypsy Road. The record covers huge emotional terrain, reflects Brody’s time living in different parts of the country and features the top 10 single Upside Down.
In March, Brandt released his latest single Nothing which recently hit #30 on the Canadian Artists chart. Nothing joins two hit singles this past year – Forever Summer and Get a Bed.

ALBUM’S FIRST SINGLE, “UPSIDE DOWN,”
TO BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 10
February 5, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – With his last album earning recognition from both The JUNO Awards and the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards for Country Album of the Year in 2014, nine-time CCMA Award winner and three-time JUNO Award nominee Dean Brody has announced the release date for his 5th studio album. Available for pre-order from Open Road Recordings on March 24, Brody’s upcoming album will be delivered to fans across North America on April 21, 2015.
As the album’s first single, “Upside Down,” takes over the Canadian airwaves on February 9, fans will instantly know that the wait has been worth it. Reminiscent of earlier favourites “Roll That Barrel Out” and “Old Joe Riley,” Brody knew instantly that “Upside Down” was the best introduction to the new material. “Making a new record is always about pushing boundaries and having fun,” said Brody. “This song is all about having a good time which is exactly what we did when making this one.”
To challenge himself in new ways, Brody composed three of the album’s ten tracks on instruments he had never played before. The result was a record, whose title will be announced first to fans via social media later this spring, that is a perfect combination of both the East and West Coast. Having grown up in the mountains and now living on the ocean, Brody proudly admits that this costal inspiration runs through all of his work. Album five definitely proves this as it delivers, without question, the carefree nature of summers on the ocean and the feeling of freedom found in roaming through the Rockies.
A self-proclaimed storyteller, Brody lives for fan feedback. Thankfully, this full-length provides many opportunities for that. From what is sure to be a fan favourite, “Sweet Lola” (tagged by Brody himself as a sequel to the chart-topping “Bounty”) to the upbeat drive of “Bring Down The House” and the heartfelt spirit of “Footprints Of A Giant” – an emotional song written in the hours after the parliament events in Ottawa last October – it’s clear that what has been delivered is an album that will satiate.
With the video for “Upside Down” set to premiere in mid-February, it won’t be long before Canada gets to spend more time with the award-winning Dean Brody as a national tour will be announced later this spring. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned via Facebook and Twitter for album and tour announcements.
